Obasanjo pledges support to kinsmen to get new monarch

ABEOKUTA – Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has pledged his support to the kingmakers of Ibogun Town in Ifo Local Government areas of Ogun State to install an acceptable ruler was in the his town.
Obasanjo who hails from the town gave the assurance, Thursday, during the Council of Chiefs’ courtesy visit on him at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta.
The former President who described the immediate-past ruler of Ibogun, Oba Isaac Ojelade (Gbadegunte 1) who joined his ancestors recently as a conscientious, hardworking, kind man during his lifetime,said the absence of a king in Ibogun has adversely affected the
development in the town.
According to him,he was my childhood friend, we went to the same elementary school in Ibogun Town, before we both left Ibogun for greener pasture, but, he died due to his health limit.
He however, expressed his displeasure over what he described as “irrelevant and unnecessary attitude” of some monarchs on power tussle, saying, “the crowns on the kings’ heads are not different from each other, it is only the landmark that is superior to each other.
Speaking earlier, the Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba Dr. Adegboyega Dosunmu urged the Council of Chiefs to maintain peace and unity being enjoyed in the town.
Speaking on behalf of the Chiefs, Olootu of Owu and Balogun in General of Ibogun Land, Chief Bankole Ogo-Oluwa drew the attention of the
leaders to the issues of building a befitting Palace for the Monarch.
He pleaded that building a palace was necessary, saying, council of chiefs could always have their meeting at the Palace.
