Adele was left in tears when she picked up Album Of The Year at the Grammy Awards, breaking the award in half as she claimed it deserved to go to Beyonce.
But Carlos Santana revealed he was fully behind The Recording Academy's decision, as he reasoned that Adele, was a far better singer than Beyonce.
Carlos - who has won 10 Grammy Awards in his time - also claimed the pregnant star was more like a 'model' than a singer.
Speaking to the Australian Associated Press, the Maria Maria singer said: 'I think that Adele won because she can sing, sing.
'With all respect to our sister Beyoncé.'
He added: 'BeyoncĂ© is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modeling kind of music—music to model a dress—she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her.'
Carlos later took to Facebook to explain that he did not mean to cause any offence, posting: 'My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the Grammies [sic].
'My comment about Beyonce was regretfully taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way.
'I wish Beyonce and her family all the best.'
