Don't link the president to a laughable incident --Presidency on man arrested for naming his dog Buhari

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu broke his silence on the arrest of Igbo trader who named his dog Buhari. This comes after Joachin Iroko finally met his bail condition and was released. He wrote:
I am thinking of saying, using my own handle that people linking the President to this dog incident are just displaying their ignorance of the type of person he is.
He enjoys cartoons and likes sharing them. The ones he enjoys the most are those that caricature him. It is cheap and sensational to say he can order a police action against a caricature. When he picks a paper, the first page he reaches for is the cartoon page. He laughs and laughs.
The President must be having a good laugh over this whole thing.
People should listen to the real story behind this dog incident and to not waste precious time seeking the hand of the President in a laughable incident!

[Photo] I killed my girl friend for the fun of it- Suspected ritualist says

22-year-old Oweniwe Chukwudi (pictured) who has been arrested in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, Adeyeye Nifemi, says he killed her for the fun of it and not for rituals as being speculated.

Chukwudi, who is a National Diploma student of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, denied removing body parts of the deceased after he murdered her.
“I did not remove any part of her body; I only killed her for the fun of it. I made love with her in the bush before killing her. I am not a cultist. It was when I killed her that I realised I made a big mistake and I wept bitterly”he said when interrogated
Ondo state commissioner of Police, Hilda Harrison, who paraded the suspect, said investigations carried out so far shows that Chukwudi whose parents are cassava farmers in Ogbese area of the state, had tricked his girlfriend to Ayede Ogbese, about 10 to 15 kilometres away from their campus where he stabbed her. He left her in the bush, thinking she was dead but on his return the next day to remove some of her body parts, he saw that she was still alive.

While pretending to help her, the suspect reportedly took her to a camp close to a filling station in Ilu Abo, where he strangled her again. When she didn’t die, he reportedly smashed her head with stones until she died.
Acting on available intelligence, he was arrested and during interrogation, confessed to committing the crime. He would be charged to court after investigations is concluded

Aye cult leader who burnt 65 year old woman to death and killed several others, confesses

The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a self-confessed leader of the Eiye Confraternity, Ibrahim Balogun, aka Small Jpron, for allegedly killing five persons during different cult wars, including organising a gang which set a house ablaze in January 2016 on Oshinfolarin Street, Bariga, during which a 65-year-old woman, Adejoke Adefuye, was burnt to death.

Punch gathered that Small Jpron was arrested after some suspected cultists attacked the area on Saturday and the suspect came out with his boys for a reprisal.
Small Jpron allegedly organised a gang which set a house ablaze in January 2016 on Oshinfolarin Street, Bariga, during which a 65-year-old woman, Adejoke Adefuye, was burnt to death.

A police source revealed that Small Jpron had been declared wanted for five murder cases in the Somolu and Bariga areas in 2016.

Speaking while being paraded at the command headquarters, Ikeja, on Wednesday, the suspect said he joined the cult to avenge the murder of his friend in 2009 by suspected Aye Confraternity members.

He said, “I am an Eiye cult leader. I joined the cult in 2009. The reason for my joining was to avenge the death of a close friend, Sunday Folorunsho, aka Small Biscuits.

“It was the Aye cult members who killed him. So, the Eiye faction approached me and said I should join them and they would help me fish out the people who killed my friend. I had a lot of boys working for me. I have killed three persons among whom were Femi Wiper and Lekan Akon.

“I cut them with knives. I shot some other victims. They were killed in the Somolu and Bariga areas. It was in the evening that Femi Wiper was killed. We were going out for a carnival during the Easter period on Alade Street in the Somolu area when a fight broke out. He was the one who first pointed a gun at me and my boys hacked him to death.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said Small Jpron had been declared wanted by the police for multiple cases of murder. He added that the suspect was an ex-convict.

He said, “Earlier this year, there were major cult clashes, where criminal elements in the Somolu and Bariga areas engaged one another in a war of supremacy culminating in the deaths of some persons.

“The gang, led by Small Jpron, also set ablaze a house in the Pedro area in which an elderly woman was burnt to death. The suspect was the one who led the cult gang war. He is a known criminal in the Somolu area.

“He has multiple cases of murder and armed robbery which he has confessed to. Through him, we will look for other members of the gang who turned Pedro and Somolu areas into theatres of war.”

11 year old boy sentenced for raping his younger sister twice

An Eleven-year-old boy who sexually assaulted his nine-year-old sister is believed to be Britain’s youngest ever rapist. The lad, now 12, was sentenced today after being convicted of raping of his sibling on February 26 and March 8 this year. The attacks were not described in detail but the court said he ejaculated on at least one occasion and that it was an “aggravating factor”.

The boy, who is from Plymouth in Devon but now lives in Cornwall, was found with images on his mobile phone following the assaults.

He was sentenced at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court today to a 12-month intensive referral order and was put on the sex offenders’ register for two–and-a-half years.

He will work with experts to improve his behaviour and will also be supervised using the internet.

The youngster was told by judge Diane Baker “I know a lot about what has happened in your life and your mum’s life in the past and the difficulties you faced and the confusion you face now about how you wish to lead your life.

“But what you did was so serious and so damaging to your little sister.

“She was nine-years-old – she does not understand about those things and you hurt her so seriously that that will last with her for the whole of her life.

“If you were older, I’m telling you now you would be serving a sentence of detention – that’s like prison. But you were only 11.”

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was supported by his mother and foster mother. His mother said she was happy he was getting the help and support needed.

Judge Baker also said that she wanted social services to make sure the boy had access to “male influences in his life”.

She said to him: “Do you promise me that you’re going to work with everybody and this is not going to happen again? How do you feel about going back to school?”

The boy, who spoke in a quiet, mumbled tone, replied: “I’m happy to go back to school and make friends.”

The judge added: “I know it must be tough for you not to see your brothers and sisters but that’s going to have to remain until it’s safe.” She told him he would have to carry out the intensive referral order or come back to court.

She asked him: “If you don’t do it, what do you think will happen?” The boy – who had to be told to speak up by the judge – replied: “I don’t know.”

The judge said: “They will say you will have to go back in front of Judge Baker – and that’s me.

“I need to know what’s happening with this order and I need to know your behaviour is improving.”

Prosecuting, barrister Emily Pitts had earlier told the judge: “I don’t know how much detail you require from me.

“It is such a distressing case for all those involved.”

Defending the boy, Jodie Leonard, said: “He is due to start at school again – I asked him how he is getting on. He is working really hard.”

Archbishop Desmond Tutu hospitalized, may spend one or two weeks

Archbishop Desmond Tutu admitted himself to a Cape Town hospital yesterday "for treatment to a recurring infection," according to a statement from his family.

The 84-year-old archbishop will remain in the hospital for one or two weeks, according to the statement for his family. They noted that Tutu went through a similar treatment last year.

He also underwent hospital tests for a persistent infection in 2013. A year later, he canceled travel plans because of a long-running battle with prostate cancer.

Tutu, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his efforts to end apartheid in his native South Africa, has remained active with the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation and other organizations.

He played a key role in that nation's transition from the apartheid era, including serving as chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission at the direction of then-President Nelson Mandela.
